Our students reside in an area that is mostly rural. They are mostly middle to lower income families. There are some families that fall in a higher income class, but most are just average. Many are from homes that do not have internet access. Some don't even have computers. The only exposure to technology some of these students have is violent video games. In our school we are trying very hard to provide as many opportunities to our students as possible. We have begun the move to digital curriculum in several subjects. That transition, however, has been greatly slowed by lack of funding. Our digital curriculms would be greatly enhanced with the addition of more computers available to students. With the addition of just five netbooks, our classroom would have a "computer lab" of 10 computers. This would be incredible for students. They would have so much more time with computers to learn, explore, and grow.
