Our 3rd and 4th grade class is a tight-knit group of curious, creative, and kind-hearted learners growing up in a unique and beautiful place on Washington Island, a small, remote island community off the tip of Door County, Wisconsin. Because our school serves the entire island, our students come from a variety of backgrounds but share a strong sense of community, friendship, and resilience. Students help one another, cheer each other on, and take pride in their school and island. They are eager to explore new ideas, hands-on projects, and real-world learning opportunities that connect to our natural environment and rural way of life.
Despite our remote location, these children dream big. They’re builders, readers, scientists, artists, and future island leaders. They thrive when learning is active, personal, and supported by resources that spark their imaginations and help them grow.
