I am a Special Ed. Teacher teaching students K-5th identified with Emotional Disabilities at a Title I school. My classroom is a highly structured classroom with activities that engage student learning. The program is designed to build self-esteem, fill the "holes" in their learning caused by their disability and to challenge them to BE THEIR BEST! The program is a levels program that reinforces positive behaviors both verbally and tangibly.
I use multi-sensory instruction to teach the whole child due to the fact that all children are individuals and do not learn the same. Students receive social skills and counseling on a regular basis, which is generalized throughout our school. The goal of the program is for the students to generalize what they have learned in all areas of their life and return to the general education setting with typical peers. When given the opportunity students will and can excel.
