My students are creative innovators and performers in my Theatre Productions I-IV, Musical Theatre I-IV, and 6th and 7th grade Art classes. My students are in all different places when it comes to their creative journey. Some are just discovering a love for performance, some have been on stage since they were little, and some aren't sure what they want, but are open to trying new things on stage, in design, or artistically. My students view theatre as an art form that can be theirs to explore and use as a form of self-expression, as a creative outlet, and as a way to form connections with others. I facilitate a positive, accepting environment in which students feel comfortable and confident learning and growing through theatre through hands-on projects, performances, and creative storytelling. More than anything, I focus on making my theatre classroom to be a place where students can feel safe, loved, and accepted.
