Our school is a public 7th and 8th middle school in California. It is a small, agricultural area. My caseload consists of 153 students. The majority of them are English language learners of Hispanic origins. I also have a handful of students who have special needs, including students with Autism, orthopedic disabilities, and students who are hard of hearing. I LOVE THEM. There is not one student who enters my classroom who I do not love and appreciate. They are my heroes and my inspiration. And there is nothing I hate more than to dishonor them by not being able to offer them all the opportunities I want to be able to offer them because of budget restraints. It breaks my heart.
