We have students from all types of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds (our district has 40% Hispanic population with many on free and reduced lunch). This is not to mention that they are middle school students brought up in a multimedia world of youtube, ipods, smartphones, apps, video/computer games and sensory oriented. They communicate and are communicated to via multimedia in a big way. I have multiple classes called GMSTV(Graham MS TV) & a before school class called GMSTV Live! where students create multimedia projects seen by their peers & the community. Many of them are very motivated to learn to create projects that are shown over our closed circuit system. The students love to create the projects & students love to see their faces on TV each morning. The programming brings a positive sense of community to our campus & our students who create the material are known around our campus for what they create. Some of our 6th graders have been applauded by peers & upper classmen.
