Each and every item has a common purpose and that is to maximize my students learning potential. My students will use this rug to meet in the morning, do literature circle and come together for whole class activities. This rug will help students to have a central meeting place when reading, writing and talking about fiction and nonfiction texts. Differentiated seating options allow for my students to learn in a flexible environment when working independently, in pairs and/ or small groups. I have done a great deal of research on flexible seating options and I can tell you that not only do they encourage movement to increase focus and retention, but also increase collaboration with their peers; as well as limit behavior problems. My students will use all these materials to choose their spots thought the classroom at various times during the day and/or help encourage movement to enhance engagement. Furthermore, the stools will help students with ADHD to engage during the day through proper movement. However, the stools and pillows will be rotated throughout the classroom so everyone has a turn to use the material.
