They are primarily students of color, many from low-income households, and a large number are first-generation college-bound. Their lived experiences shape a strong sense of responsibility to their families and neighborhoods. LPS Hayward students often balance academics with real-world responsibilities, including work, caregiving, and advocacy. Despite systemic barriers, they show determination, curiosity, and growing confidence in their leadership potential. They are socially aware, reflective, and motivated by a desire to create opportunity not only for themselves, but for those who come after them. As they take their next steps beyond high school, these students demonstrate grit, hope, and pride in how far they’ve come—and in the futures they are building.
