Right now, when my students walk into our classroom, they are greeted with standard students desks and chairs. As welcoming as I believe our classroom is now, I would love to make it better by providing them with flexible seating. This type of environment would allow students the freedom and responsibility to choose workspaces best for their learning styles.
A variety of choices, such as wobble cushions, ball chairs, and standing desks would help me make this classroom a safe space for all types of learners. Not all students learn best by sitting in hard chairs and I want to honor them all. Studies have proven time and again that giving students voice and choice increases motivation and engagement. My students will love these options for learning and I will love seeing their faces when they walk into a classroom full of choice!
