First and foremost my students are from Niihau origins, they are deeply connected to their culture, language, and community. They grow up surrounded by ohana values and a shared responsibility to honor and protect the Niihau legacy. Many are bilingual, thinking, speaking, and expressing themselves in Olelo Niihau while also navigating English in school, media, and broader academic spaces. They are resilient, adaptable, and caring. Many come from tight-knit families where mutual support, hard work, and humility are important values.
