My class is a diverse group with all level of readers from gifted to special ed. We have a variety of cultural backgrounds including African American, White, Hispanic and Marshallese. Our school is in a high poverty area, with most families having single-parent households. Books are definitely a luxury that most of our families cannot afford, so the more exposure I can provide, the better.
