I am a school Speech Language Pathologist and MY students come from all of the grades in my building. Next year's students will be kindergarten through 5th graders. My students are 1/3 Hispanic, 1/3 African American and 1/3 Caucasian. We are a Title One school with 100% free breakfast and lunch.
For the 2017-2018 school year we will become a Global Learners School and study North/Central America, Oceania, Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Each grade level will be assigned an area. I use literacy for the basis of all of my speech and language sessions. We are able to work on speech goals such as articulation, receptive/expressive language (vocabulary and grammar), voice and fluency using books. Therefore, I need books on the global level. My students need the opportunity to learn globally and to experience life outside their small community.
