Our school is a neighborhood K-8 situated in a lower income neighborhood in Oregon. Our students are diverse and many represent minority populations that are underrepresented in science and engineering fields. Our middle school students are passionate about sports, music, and other extra curricular activities, however our school does not offer many opportunities in these areas. Last year a cohort of 6th graders completed an engineering elective course with great enthusiasm and success. This group is vocal about their excitement for design, and increasingly they say things like, "I am going to an engineer"
