This is my first year teaching at the Newark School of Global Studies, and while I bring years of teaching experience, I am just beginning to build the materials and resources that many veteran teachers accumulate over time, which support learning year after year, such as laptops and iPads.
A high percentage of Newark Public schools students come from families facing economic challenges,and for many students, the classroom is their primary place of access to structured learning.
Unfortunately, the laptop I currently use has a failing battery and only functions when constantly connected to a power source. If it becomes unplugged, it shuts down immediately, interrupting instruction and breaking student focus. A reliable laptop would help me during instruction. In addition, an iPad or tablet would significantly enhance instruction.
