Our school is located in SE, DC in an area that houses many low income families. These students need something to help them see life outside of their everyday existence. The experiences that playing an instrument can provide are vast, and needed by these students. Students need a skill that will spark their interest, and cause them to want to learn without even realizing it. Many of these students just need an outlet for their energy, so it is up to us as adults to find a way to give them what they need. They did not ask to be born into certain situations, and I am thankful for places like Donors Choose to help things more equitable.
