My students attend a low income school in Southern California. They come from multiple backgrounds, language abilities, and learning abilities, but all have been impacted educationally by the pandemic and distance learning. Our intervention program consists of 50 students ranging from Kinder to 3rd grade. Most of my students are English language learners. Our school is a low income Title 1 school where all students qualify for free lunch. The lack of resources further hinders my students learning. Most of my students' parents work two jobs to make ends meet and seldom have time to take their kids to the library to find books of interest or help them with their reading skills as they are learning English themselves. Despite the obstacles in front of them, my students come in everyday with joyful attitudes and loving hearts.
