I am requesting a variety of books for my newcomer students, especially for those students who are pre-literate. Currently, I have a limited supply of books and very few that are accessible to students who are learning to read. The beginning books I do have are not suitable for middle school age students.
The books I am requesting in this project will provide my newcomer students with high interest, culturally relevant inspiration on their journey to become readers. We will read these books together in class and they will be available to students for independent reading. Having a multitude of books that are accessible, interesting, and relevant to my students is a critical part of them learning how to read and loving reading!
