Sometimes we don't remember what it was like growing up and how hard it may have been being a kid. But, what we can remember is a book we loved and where it took us when we needed to be gone for a while from reality. I fondly remember books like Charlotte's Web and everything and anything by Judy Blume ( I still read her adult novels today). These titles plus many more took me and I hope will take my students to places where they to feel loved, safe, and easily accepted by everyone.
The students I service come from many backgrounds, but somethings they have in common are more profound than any of us could ever imagine. With these wonderful books like some of the ones I mentioned above and many more listed in our project. It is my hope to take my students to safe places where they feel loved, safe, and accepted by all even if just for a moment.
About my class
