My students are from a small town farming community located in upstate South Carolina. Our school is a Title 1 elementary school and we have a high-poverty population. The majority of my students do not have access to technology or the Internet outside of the classroom. My students are eager to learn and they love using computers and the SmartBoard with hands-on learning applications and games. Many of my students have never left the county or our state, so learning how to conduct research and learning through online experiences is critical in providing them with a global education so that they can understand the world around them. Allowing my students the opportunity and knowledge to conduct hands-on research is an critical step in providing them a 21st century education.
