Currently, I am teaching my computer science students the Code.org Middle School Discoveries curriculum. It is a year-long digital learning track which introduces the CSS and HTML basics. Nevertheless, I have a background in sound design, music production, VR Design (Unity), and Blender Animation. The 3D Generator Unity incorporates Javascript and C# as a way to program the VR environments. I feel that an incredibly dynamic and exciting way to learn Javascript and C# programming concepts is through the Unity program while applying this knowledge within a VR / AR environment. Currently, our school received a SIG grant for VR-ready graphics processor desktops, a 3D printer, and now all we need are the goggles to supplement the coding curriculum. Gamification concepts are burgeoning as incredibly relevant teaching techniques, and Virtual Reality provides an unprecedented way to composite sound design, visual 3D design, scaling, computer coding, and editing techniques into a single classroom project. I am honored to be aware of these exciting technologies, and my students would greatly benefit from the technologies which would showcase their computer science skills.
