By the time a student reaches high school, reading habits and opinions are often set. Many of our students are non-readers. Many truly feel that they can't read. Often the reason for this opinion is that they can't find books that hook them. Fortunately, every once in awhile a title or a series comes along that speaks to these students. The reading level is not too high to cause stress, yet the books are interesting enough to entice. The titles I have placed in this order are some of the kind of books which captivate reluctant readers They are books that are often requested but which are not always available due to budget issues. They are books that will inspire a student to come and check out another one in the series. They are books that, because they allow low level readers to practice reading, are stepping stones to further, more complex materials. They are books that I KNOW students like and ask for, and are pleased to find even when they are worn and dog-eared.
