I teach 5th grade Reading at a title one school. Many of my students don't like to read because they struggle with reading and are reading below grade level. They feel like reading is a form of punishment. My goal as their teacher is to make them successful readers and show them reading can be fun and enjoyable. I want them to love coming to class and want their love of reading to shine bright not only at school but also at home.
