I work with 9 diverse K-2 classrooms in New York City. We have students just entering school for the first time from various backgrounds. They are enthusiastic about our school and love interactive learning. They love singing, dancing, acting out curriculum, drawing and painting. Our teachers work hard to promote individual thinking and interest based learning. We do a lot of small group work, and are working hard to make these groups instructionally sound. Teachers often lack books, and materials to teach struggling readers in small groups. These materials will really help them back the important literacy instruction that the teachers need to do.
