Our public elementary school in the state of Washington is a low-income, high-diversity, highly mobile, and award winning school. Newer schools have popped up all around us with excesses of money and high-tech materials, while our students make due with equipment and technology that lags behind. Despite the challenges of a 70-year-old school and a lack of resources, I honestly wouldn't want to teach anywhere else because our students are so unspoiled, sweet, and appreciative of any little thing they receive. For many, school is the happiest, safest place they have ever known.
