Do you remember what it was like to read on your own? Or the excitement your parents felt when you read to them? Well, I want my students and their families to have that same experience.
This upcoming school year, I will be teaching a diverse group that attend an urban, low-performing school in New York. Their reading journey will begin as they learn to identify and read many sight words. Seeing the sparkle in their eyes will let me know that their reading adventure has begun. Learning how to read should be enjoyable and playful.
