Thirteen of my twenty-one kindergarten students speak another language at home but they develop language fluency every day as they participate in learning at school. Our school has over 80% of our children receiving free and reduced lunches. My students love learning. They get so excited when they hear a fun story and I delight in the understanding they gain from listening to stories and discussing them with friends. The students come to kindergarten eager to learn and I would appreciate having a few more tools to help them become successful readers.
