Our school was awarded Legislative Honors from the State of Utah in STEAM Achievements. I teach 5th grade in a low income area with a diverse population. Most students do not have access to technology outside of school. Some students may be homeless, live with more than 1 family or are being raised by grandparents.
We received used Chromebooks but they did not come with a mouse, headphones or toner for the printer. There is also a need for a 3D Printer and supplies.
We were able to add a 2nd "First Lego League" team and with hard work and determination, they both won trophy's at the District competition 2yrs in a row and we're able to advance to the state Competition, which also included junior high students. I love teaching students, in the community where I grew up and giving back. I feel it gives me a unique perspective and enables me to help my students to try to inspire them become anything they chose!
