Being a teacher for over 20 years has given me the knowledge to understand that children learn best with hands-on materials. This is why I have chosen to pick materials that would allow my students to be engaged and learn while they are playing. In the past, my children learn best with math materials targeted towards skills they need to master and enjoy doing so. They are always engaged when participating in these centers and are always excited when the "ah-ha" moment happens and can't wait to share with their peers what worked best for them.
