I work in an incredible school! It is a richly diverse elementary school with passionate educators and staff. The economic disadvantages many of our students face, (70% free and reduced lunch rate), is countered by my school's emphasis on cultivating and honoring each child's individual gifts and talents while developing academic excellence and social emotional strength.
I have amazing students! My preschoolers join my classroom 2-3 times weekly for specialized instruction across all developmental domains. All of my students have an identified disability or delay and many are learning English as their second or third language. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of valuing diversity and the unique contributions brought by each child. We learn through exploratory play, embedded instruction and focused lessons using culturally responsive teaching practices.
