I am teaching in a low income school district where updated technology is limited to a wired mouse that kids today are not familiar with. This generation of children have grown up touching screens rather than pointing and clicking a mouse. Our limited technology is outdated and doesn't support newer programs.
These touch screen Amazon Kindles will allow students to pick them up and get to work independently! Students will use these tablets on a daily basis during literacy stations, when seat work is complete, or as an extra incentive.
Reading Eggs, RaZ Kids, and Lexia will be some of the apps/programs my first graders will use on the tablet. I will also be adding programs that will help English language learners acquire basic vocabulary and speaking skills.
