My students come from a wide variety of ethnic and racial backgrounds, yet they share the commonality of low socio-economics. They are bright, brave and expressive. They are challenging, sometimes angry but always passionate. Some have been exposed to barbarity in unimaginable ways and all face the day bright-eyed in the face of adversity. They run the gamut in age as well. Some of them are little five year-olds attending their first days of school and others are eighth graders preparing for high school. My students are a diverse group of language learners that require more than what can currently be provide with the limited resources available at our school.
