My students are 18 to 22 year old Young Adults who have Severe Needs. Our program is a Community Based Instruction classroom. The students learn functional living skills that will allow them to live as independently as possible and do as much for themselves as they are able. We teach students to cook, do laundry, make purchases, and vocational skills. Weekly the students explore the local community where our classroom is located. The students are highly involved in their local community - they pick up trash along the bike paths, sing Christmas Carols at Convalescent Homes, and volunteer at the local pumpkin patch each October.
