Chemistry can be a wonderful way for students to apply their creativity in an exciting problem solving arena. Enrollment in our Chemistry classes has dramatically increased and each student needs a hands-on experience to demonstrate the concepts we learn in class.
My students are 10th, 11th and 12th graders who study at a large, urban, public high school in New Hampshire. Although we have a functional facility, our city has had to systematically cut funding for the schools. This has increased class sizes and decreased the number of resources available to students in the classroom. Additionally, students have been seeking more science classes in their schedules and we have been struggling to provide enough supplies.
