My students are a unique group in that they are all boys of varying grade levels within an elementary special education classroom for students with serious behavioral and emotional needs. They are a very active bunch who at times have very short attention spans and unique learning styles, which means that they require a very special and individualized type of instruction within the classroom. They love to learn through experiencing things first hand and they are always thrilled to make real-life connections to the subject matter being taught. They have a great love for science and the outdoors, and it is not uncommon for them to walk into class on any given day with an insect, rock, or plant that they found which they want to share and learn more about.
