I am a third grade teacher for Chicago Public Schools. My students are my "sparkling gems", inquisitive and challenging third graders who always keep me on my toes. Our school is predominately Latino with over 95% of our population low income, most of whom are Bilingual or English Language Learners. Because of budgetary constraints, we rarely are able to purchase new books, supplies or technology. I am a teacher that is determined to create an environment where students feel safe, appreciated and reminded that learning matters. I teach my students that they have the choice to discover a whole new world through our daily endeavors.
