In my classroom I have 31 fourth graders that come from Hispanic backgrounds. They are eager to learn new things, however reading is where they become anxious. Many of my students' first language is Spanish, and they are working to not only learn the fourth grade curriculum, but also a new language. My students need to improve their fluency and vocabulary in English. Our school is an urban public school. Our school is severely overcrowded, and it is for this reason our school hasn't had a library for years since it was refurbished into a kitchen, and the cafeteria became 2 classrooms. This means that the only library the students have is in the classroom, which limits the number of books we have since we need room in the room for student desks.
