I teach in a self-contained special education class for students with autism. My students are beginning to enjoy reading, but they often get frustrated because they can't read the books that interest them the most. These students love computers and other types of technology. My students participate with their regular education peers for social studies, science, and related arts. They often require accommodations in the general education setting. Having a passage or text read aloud to them, is one accommodation that most of the students need.
