I work at a regional aquaculture school within the inner-city of Bridgeport, Connecticut. We bring in students from Bridgeport and seven surrounding towns to focus on STEM education with an aquaculture twist. The students get to do a lot of high level science and engineering while involved in a lot of hands-on learning projects. The students come from a wide variety of backgrounds but do a great job working together. Unfortunately, with the urbanized setting that we are in the students don't have a great connection to farming and an understanding of where their food comes from. Our aquaculture classes give them a chance to learn about and raise a variety of aquacultured species.
