I teach at a public school in beautiful California. Make no mistakes the school is in gang territory. Various other gangs roam these streets. The children at my school are title one and nearly all grew up as Spanish speakers. I have a great group of kids that work their tail off despite all of the things that go on outside of my classroom. I do feel that I am preparing these students for Algebra which is statistically one of the largest factors that keeps students from graduating when they move on to high school. They love Hot Cheetos, drawing, going online, and sports.
