My students needs many opportunities to discover the engineer in them all. Some need a light nudge to show their understanding of problem solving, planning, building the solution and others need many scaffold opportunities to bring out the ingenuity in all the students.
The students will use the LEGOs to work cooperatively and build and construct a solution to a problem they come up as a team. The goal is for the students to use problem solving skills in a cooperative setting to enhance or improve something in our world. They will identify something they see in their everyday life, for example, a better phone protector or better egg carrier or a better pencil holder. The students' imagination will be limited to supplies on hand. Having these LEGOs will enhance this for the students.
Having the right manipulative gives students the opportunity to problem solve a real life problem, and then engineer a solution. This is what is needed for our future generation of kids to have the needed 21st century skills and mindset.
The LEGO sets give the students an opportunity to set them up for success in the Future!
