I teach sixth grade science in a NYC K-8 school. My teaching style draws upon the natural curiosity of children and encourages them to investigate the scientific phenomenon around them with a hands on approach.
During their time in my classroom, students develop a deep understanding of basic chemistry, ecosystems and earth science. They become accustomed to using models to convey ideas, planning and conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematical thinking, and constructing explanations using relevant evidence. They leave my classroom with a greater appreciation for the natural world around them and real experiences with science that create a lifelong love for the subject.
