My students are 22 curious, energetic first graders. They love coming to school and are excited about learning everything that comes their way. Many, however, come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our school, located in California, receives Title 1 funds, has approximately 75% of students qualifying for free or reduced price lunch, and two-thirds of our students are English Learners. Despite all of this, our API score is 837, demonstrating how hard our students, teachers, and families work to ensure academic achievement.
