I teach six classes a semester consisting of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. They come from all social walks of life, including students with special needs. My students are bright and are eager to try something new. We live in a high poverty, low income area where most of our students only have access to technology at school. Our computers are worn out and aren't being replaced due to budget cuts. We do have a small iPad lab that we can checkout but it's hard to reserve because it is in such high demand from all of our teachers. My students could benefit so much from us having an iPad in the classroom at all times, one that we don't have to share with 900 other students. They sit here, thirsty for more technology that I can't give them, and I am thirsty for it too. I want to guide them, and prepare them for the future and I believe an iPad is just that piece of technology that can help me prepare them.
