My young learners have never been in a school building. They are six-year-olds who have stepped to the plate, worked hard, shown resilience, and finally get to walk into a Kindergarten classroom for the first time in their lives as they finish off the school year strong. The donated material will make it possible for them to each have their own individual markers, magnetic letters, and playdough to build words, create patterns, and develop fine motor skills and store them in the plastic bins along with other teacher-purchased materials to ensure that materials are not shared and safety precautions are in place to avoid Covid19 spread. As they engage individually and therefore safely, they get to experience school beyond a keyboard. It will help them optimize their learning to ensure they have a strong base and the necessary fine motor skills for their continued learning in the future grades.
