I teach at a hard to staff school in Brooklyn, New York. Many of my students are in foster homes. Some have a parent that is incarcerated. Most are from single family homes. It's been a wonderful experience for me teaching these children and each day I learn so very much from them. This year I am teaching a second grade just as I did last year. I am honing in on my skills and having a great school year. I am excited to see myself and my students achieve wonderful things this school year. I want my students to be successful and it is for this reason that I am writing to your org. My students are always hungry and many of them are obese. They drink soda and eat chips for breakfast. They complain that they hate the cafeteria food and so we have a serious problem at our school with children eating in an unhealthy way. I want them to have healthy snacks and juice to have when they miss breakfast and lunch. With some healthy snacks we can help them stay healthy as they learn.
