I work as a third grade teacher in an inner-city school in CA. All of my students are English Language learners, and are classified as limited English proficient. 100% of my students qualify for a reduced/free school lunch. Many of them have very little English language support at-home and opportunity to practice their skills outside of the classroom. They have difficulties with the language and making connections with the grade level curriculum. Despite their challenges, I feel that they will succeed given the opportunity. I try to use as much technology in my classroom as possible and students really respond to it. We use the in class computers to practice math facts and hone their reading and writing skills. Many of my students do not have access to a computer at home and are unable to access a computer outside of school; because of this, they view technology as a new and exciting tool in their education.
