Students in my classroom come from economically, linguistically and culturally diverse families. Half of them only know English and the other half only know Spanish. Both groups of students are mastering their home language, while learning a second language at school. We are a dual language program, and students spend half of their day in English instruction and half of their day in Spanish instruction. My students are 4 and 5 year-olds and they love to learn through play and exploration.
