I teach music to approximately 750 students in grades K - 5. My students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. We live in a rural area of North Carolina, made up of mostly farming communities. Many of my students have parents who are on active duty in the military. Like many other schools, we have suffered greatly this year with budget issues. There have been many staff cuts, supply reductions, and no monies funded for anything "extra." I spend a great deal of my own money just to have resources and materials.
