Each day, my students work in small groups. However, sitting down for our 50-minute periods is a huge challenge for many, especially students with ADHD or those simply restless. Rather than having students wander the classroom to get his/her energy out, he/she can stand in our small group circles with a desk to work from. This way he/she will have a chance to remain actively engaged in our English and History lessons. In addition, the standing desk supports better circulation which promotes more blood and oxygen flow to the brain and thus much better focus and recall.
