My fifth grade students are excited about reading. They've found favorite series and authors that they're excited about. This is so crucial because the reality is that many of the students in my class are reading far below grade level, and if they're going to have a fair chance in this world, it's critical that they be given the opportunity to catch up, if not get ahead.
